In the beginning of 2005 a medical imaging centre providing for the entire Hospital District started its operations.
The Medical Imaging Centre of Southwest Finland primarily provides for the clinical units within the Hospital District of Southwest Finland. In addition there are separate agreements with the basic health care system within the area.
There are 14 units in the Medical Imaging Centre of Southwest Finland. In addition to the traditional x-rays, magnetic resonance and ultrasound examinations are conducted at the units. Computer tomographies, transilluminative and vascular examinations are also part of the selection of examinations. In addition to the examinations, procedures related to the aforementioned examination methods are conducted at the Medical Imaging Centre’s various units.
There are about 250 employees at the Medical Imaging Centre of Southwest Finland and all in all approximately 25 000 medical imaging examinations are conducted monthly.
