Emergency Medical Services
Emergency Services
Patients requiring immediate or urgent specialized care in the region of Varsinais-Suomi can seek treatment in the four emergency clinics located in Turku, Salo, Loimaa and Uusikaupunki.
There are about 130,000 attendances annually. The Ministry of Social Affairs and Health has issued a national instruction for the assessment of the need of an individual person for urgent medical services and we follow that instruction.
We provide about 65,000 instances of pre-hospital emergency care service annually in the hospital district. The area harbors 34 units of emergency service. In addition to these, emergency services are produced by the Maritime Rescue Centre of the Finnish Border Guard, by the First Response Units of the municipalities and the Finnish Red Cross and by a physician-staffed helicopter emergency medical service (FinnHEMS20).
