Turunmaa Hospital Overview
Turunmaa hospital has been a public utility of the hospital district since the beginning of 2006. We offer specialised care for both our own catchment area of about 23 000 residents in Parainen and Kemiö and various municipalities in Southwest Finland.
Accomplished in both Finnish and Swedish, Turunmaa hospital is especially popular amongst the Swedish-speaking population.
Turunmaa hospital has
- an internal medicine inpatient ward
- a surgical/gynaecological inpatient ward
- an operation ward
Outpatient clinics offer care services in the following specialties:
- internal medicine
- pulmonary diseases
- ear, nose and throat diseases
- physical and rehabilitation medicine
There is also a laboratory and a radiology unit in the hospital.
Turunmaa hospital has reduced the number of beds and operations requiring inpatient care and focused heavily on outpatient care and day surgery. In the year 2012 the hospital modified the day surgical unit facilities into a day hospital, which functions as an infusion outpatient ward and a unit for demanding and time-consuming clinical procedures. Meanwhile, the treatment of day surgical patients was relocated to more functional facilities.
