All neuromodulatory therapies for psychiatric conditions within the region of the Hospital District of Southwest Finland are provided by the psychiatric neuromodulation unit. The following treatments are available: electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), ketamine infusion therapy, transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and transcranial direct-current stimulation (tDCS).
The core working group includes a physician in training, a nurse and a department secretary. When ECT is given, the team includes an anaesthesiologist and a nurse anaesthetist, as well.
The psychiatric neuromodulation unit is a part of the neuromodulatory centre of expertise and one of the centres of excellence of the Tyks Hospital in 2019.
