Psychiatric Neuromodulation Unit

All neuromodulatory therapies for psychiatric conditions within the region of the Hospital District of Southwest Finland are provided by the psychiatric neuromodulation unit. The following treatments are available: electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), ketamine infusion therapy, transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and transcranial direct-current stimulation (tDCS).

The core working group includes a physician in training, a nurse and a department secretary. When ECT is given, the team includes an anaesthesiologist and a nurse anaesthetist, as well.

The psychiatric neuromodulation unit is a part of the neuromodulatory centre of expertise and one of the centres of excellence of the Tyks Hospital in 2019.

You need a doctor's referral to be admitted.
