Congenital metabolic diseases of children aged 0 to 16 are studied and treated here. We also admit some adult patients, because the treatment of Finnish LPI (Lysinuric protein intolerance) patients is centralised here.
You need a doctor's
referral to be admitted.
A clinic fee is collected from your visit. The visit lasts from 30 to 45 minutes, and it includes the height, weight and blood pressure measurements by a nurse and a physician's practice visit. A dietician can be present during the visit, if required. During ongoing courses in spring and autumn, some medical students near the end of their studies can be present as well.
Blood samples or X-rays are not taken in the ward, but in the appropriate facilities of the
laboratory or
the imaging centre. Our goal is to have such studies and their results completed and available at the practice visit.
