We treat children and adolescents suffering from paediatric or neurological diseases and in need of specialised care, taking the whole family into account. Some of the patients are admitted by a doctor's referral, some directly from the emergency clinic.
The major patient groups treated at the ward are child patients suffering from type 1 diabetes, epilepsy, eating disorders and every other chronic illness. The ward is a clean ward, which means that patients must not carry infectious diseases.
A daily inpatient fee is collected from inpatient ward treatment. The children's diabetes outpatient clinic is operated at the ward, and a clinic fee is collected from visits to the ward.
The most important operations model of our unit is family-centredness: the child or youth is always faced individually, with the family taken into account.
There are open visiting hours and a possibility for one of the parents to stay overnight in our ward.
There are three single rooms and three 3 person rooms at the ward. The single rooms have their own toilets, the bigger ones do not. There is a shower for the parents in the ward.
Children may wear their own clothes at the ward, but there are no lockers available for storage.
The rooms have TVs, and some of the rooms have games consoles. There is a TV and various games consoles in the day room. Unfortunately no WiFi connection is available.
