We serve patients
- with difficulties of speech or interactive production or comprehension caused by a disease or injury
- whose communication can be enhanced by communication methods assisting or replacing speech
- whose functions can be activated and developed by auxiliary devices designed for the disabled enabling the use of computers
- whose independence and remaining ability to function can be supported with remote control devices
You need a doctor's referral to be admitted. Visits are free of charge to the patients.
The goal of assistive communicative device assessment is to expand the communicative methods and possibilities of the patient in close co-operation with the people closest to the patient (the next of kin, day care centres, schools or care facilities).
The communication assessment includes choosing or building the assistive device, teaching the use of and testing the device, as well as monitoring. The communication assessment is a process, whose duration varies individually depending on the needs of the patient.
The goal of the assessment of assistive devices for computer usage is to support the patient's remaining ability to function and to enable his/her social participation via assistive and auxiliary devices of IT.
The goal of the assessment of the need for remote control devices is to support the patient's remaining ability to function and to enable his/her independence in his/her own immediate surroundings.
Students of speech therapy, occupational therapy or hard-of-hearing interpreting can participate in practical internship at the Tikoteekki.
We are a part of the Tyks service division of Expert Services.
