We perform research, amongst others, on neurological diseases, sleeping disorders, nerve injuries and muscular diseases. Diseases causing neurogenic pain, disorders of consciousness and sensory deficits are also part of our specialty.
You need a doctor's referral to be admitted. Some of our patients are admitted via emergency.
We perform diagnostic studies of the peripheral and central nervous system, sensory system and sleeping as well as long-term monitoring during operations and at the intensive care unit, from babies to grandparents.
We train specialising physicians, bachelors of medicine and nursing students (Bioanalytics) in co-operation with the university and the university of applied sciences.
Scientific research is an essential part of our operation. We conduct independent research and participate in local (Tyks, UTU), national and international research. Read more about our research.
The clinical neurophysiology unit has been operated according to the quality control system accredited by FINAS (Finnish Accreditation Service) since 2003. We are the first accredited laboratory of our field in Finland, and as far as it is known, in the world. The accreditation decision is based on the international standard EN ISO/IEC 17025:2017. Information about the competence and validity of our test laboratory (T212) can be found at www.finas.fi (search with T212)
