Joint Emergency Services and Monitoring Unit

Emergency services as from 1 April 2017

Night-time emergency services will end at Tyks Loimaa and Vakka-Suomi Hospitals and the emergency clinics will be open every day from 8 am to 10 pm.

Emergency care will be available at the Joint Emergency Department of Southwest Finland which operates around the clock at Tyks T-hospital in Turku and at Tyks Salo Hospital.

In an emergency, call 112.

Before leaving for the emergency clinic, always call

  • your own health station on working days Mon–Fri 8 am–3 pm
  • at other times, call 02 313 8800.

We are responsible for the specialised emergency care and basic emergency health care outside office hours of the Vakka-Suomi region.

The emergency practices are intended for acute illnesses and injuries that require treatment before 24 hours have passed since the trauma or the onset of the disease.

The triage nurse assesses the need for urgent treatment on the arrival of a patient. Due to the unpredictable nature of emergency duty activity, the length of the queue can be quite significant from time to time.

Before departing for the emergency clinic

You can assess the need for and urgency of your emergency visit before departing. If you are unsure of what to do, contact your own health centre or our phone counselling.

See guide: Arriving at the emergency clinic

Arriving at the emergency clinic

Specialised care emergency patients are admitted by a referral. Only difficult life-threatening injuries and illnesses are treated without a referral.

Basic health care emergency patients are admitted without a referral. The joint emergency services of the Vakka-Suomi area health centres are located in the facilities of the first aid clinic. They are responsible for the emergency services of the Uusikaupunki  co-operative region and Laitila health centre.

  • Workdays 4 pm to 10 pm.
  • Weekends and public holidays 10 am to 10 pm

The joint emergency services admits patients by appointment. The treatment of long-term illnesses and prescription renewal are processed in the patient's own health centre.

If the disease is not life-threatening or does not require emergency care, the patient can be directed to another care facility or home.

The next of kin can accompany the patient in the lobby, but in order to guarantee our fluent functionality and patient privacy inpatient visits can only be made by the permission of the nursing staff.

Visiting hours at the monitoring unit are 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm and 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm. A maximum of two visitors can visit the patient at a time.

Fees collected from patients:

  • clinic fee
  • a daily bed charge from inpatient treatment
